Warren County Adult New Readers is celebrating 30 years of serving low literacy adults who live and work in Warren County, Ohio. Over 1,500 adults who needed help with their reading, writing, math or English speaking skills have been tutored by volunteers who have been trained by Adult New Readers.
The agency began in 1987 with the help of five public libraries in Warren County. It was granted tax-exempt status soon afterward and became a Warren County United Way agency in 1991 which continued until July 1, 2016. We continue to be funded by four of these libraries, as well as grants and donations.
WCANR currently has an 8 member Board of Directors representing the library areas.
Warren County Adult New Readers is a non-profit adult literacy agency which trains volunteers to tutor adults who live and work in Warren and nearby counties in Ohio who need help with reading and writing and people from other countries who wish to improve their reading, writing and speaking in English.
